I have been waiting for the right occasion to wear this lovely red striped maxi dress ever since this post when I brought home all this loot:

044

Do you see it peeking out?

And the occasion(s) finally came!

Sunday funday as it has been called.

I first patio brunched with a friend at a The Black Pearl, a new restaurant sitting on Old Hickory Lake on the outskirts of Nashville, TN, and had all you can eat seafood- crab legs, shrimp, crawfish and corn, and a Mai Tai, my first one:)  It was a beautiful sunny day, and then I attended an outdoor festival that my friend Irene (on the right in the second picture down) was hosting/mc’ing.  Like me, she is pursuing her dream of being a stand up comic.  And she funny.  I surround myself with dreamers like me.  (Mine is being a published, or at least respected, songwriter.)

Don’t you agree??  I think I waited for the right time.

The dress held up to the challenge of the day, and I even got one compliment, out loud at least…I’m positive there were others unspoken:)  Is that what confidence?…or something else?:)

The festival was next to/on the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville, and that picture is of the pedestrian bridge that you can stroll across whenever you’d like and admire the downtown view.  Very pretty, and for sure one of my favorite places in Nashville.

As you can see in the last picture, the dress is the perfect length- hard to do in a Maxi dress.  I have another that is probably a few inches too short, but I still rock it anyway.

Lastly, I didn’t take a picture of the back, but you can probably tell, it is racerback, so this is one of those fun dresses you have to wear a strapless for…oh joy.  Let’s just say I would’ve done a little more dancing had it not been for the sans straps bra, but that was the only casualty of the day due to the dress.  Totally worth it.  No one needs to see my dancing anyway.  🙂

Hope you enjoyed and are inspired to go make some finds of your own!!

I know for me at least I’m inspired enough for plenty of people!

Live beautifully,

-Jaime

Hi Jaime! I’ve been lurking and had to post after reading this. This post brought back great memories of times in Nashville. We were there for a festival one year – I think it was called Riverfest and sounds like it was in the same area you were in on the Cumberland. Great shows – Foo Fighters, Shawn Colvin, The Indigo Girls….however I wasn’t nearly as fashionable as you. That was many years ago, long before my GW days. Thanks for some fun memories and all the great posts. I really do enjoy reading your blog!! Take care. – Jill

Awww thank you, that is so nice to hear!:). I love Nashville too, so much I had to move back. So you’ve just visited and never called it home? Riverfest sounds vaguely familiar, but the lineup you mentioned sounds great. I’m a big fan of music festivals, but the only Nashville one I have gone to was called Soundlands. Great to meet a fellow Nashville AND Goodwill fan (glad you finally found the light;), keep on coming by!

Ps, where are you located now? If you don’t mind me asking…

No, I’ve never lived in Nashville, just visited every year for a few years. I have a very dear friend who lived in Murfreesboro at the time…she went to MTSU…so I would head down for an annual trip. My husband has some musician friends that lived there at the time too so we’d visit them as well. My friend tried very hard to get us to move there, but we never did – we are New Yorkers and even with the cost of living being waaaaaay better we never made the move. Just can’t leave NY!! My friend has since moved to CA so now we have another cool place to visit her. She’s out in the desert near Palm Springs. The last time we were in TN was probably 5 yrs ago. We love it and hope to visit again soon!!

Cool, Palm Springs would be a great place to visit. As you probably know, I am from the northeast, but am much happier down here in the warmer (and cheaper and more musical) climate.

Great dress, I love the stripes! It is neat to see pics in a place I can recognize also. I don’t live in Nashville, an hour and a half west of there, but love to spend time in this area when we do go, especially this time of the year! Looks like it was a fun day with a great, goodwill find! 🙂
