’20’s swag purse from Forever 21, whole outfit $31.

'20's swag purse from Forever 21, whole outfit $31.

Small Forever 21 purse- Goodwill, $3.99
NY&Co jeggings- Goodwill, $7.99
Blowfish Booties- Goodwill, $2.99 at a half off Saturday
Non-Goodwill:
Maroon shirt- Burlington coat factory, $9.98
Black Sheer Cardigan- $5.99

Altogether that is under $31 for everything I’m wearing.

This post is about my newest item, the cute little purse, that I got yesterday just on a random stop in, not looking for anything in particular, that I can remember.

The night before however, after going to a friends show in East Nashville, and people watching, or style watching I should call it, everyone there, I decided I needed a new small purse for ‘going out’. Just big enough for the essentials- ID, card, phone, lip gloss and chap stick. all fit perfectly. I have a decent small purse I got at a yard sale for $5, that I of course have gotten multiple compliments on ;), but wanted something a little fancier. For not fancy money.

Enter this thin gold chained small quilted pleather circle purse, from Forever 21, for $3.99. In my cart, in my bag, in my house, out to dinner at Mere Bulles.

My friend is moving to fairer temperatures south, and he worked at a nice restaurant and he had a free dinner for two there that he had never used. Lucky me I got to be the plus one. Nothing better than a free filet mignon topped with bleu cheese butter. Accompanied by a nice cabernet blend by Trione. Yup, I just checked, there’s nothing better. It was the perfect place to debut my new sidekick. Although not big enough to stick some free bread in.

I kid I kid :).

The bread wasn’t that impressive.

I also got a bigger purse I’m pretty excited about that I will share in another post soon I’m sure. Not as pretty, but definitely more practical. Hard to be both it seems.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy thrifting and living!:)

Killing at .99 Sunday

Killing at .99 Sunday

Coat- Goodwill (forever 21)- .99
Scarf- Buffalo exchange, San Francisco
Trouser Jeans- Savers (The Gap)- 9.99
Headband- Walgreens- 4.99

Ok, not an actual killing, but headlines sell right?:) I mean a killing the likes of “High prices were murdered because I got 6 GREAT things for 5.96.”

I mean GREAT.

Pictured above is a cropped, burnt yellow (if you have read this blog for any period of time, you should know I love any color with the work ‘burnt’ before it- mostly yellow and orange) puff sleeve blazer/jacket from…Forever 21 for the win! I can’t believe this made it to the .99 rack.

For those of you who don’t know how the Goodwill pricing and sale system works, .99 day isn’t just a random day where they sell randomly chosen items for cheap, they are the items that have been there the longest that NO ONE has taken for theirs, just yet. So when something this good, along with the other 5 items I purchased, are still available on .99 day, it amazes, and excites me.

This cropped yellow coat is just perfect, other than the fact that it doesn’t really button…details, but throw a scarf and some jewelry over that (something I may have more than enough of) and you can barely notice it. For .99, I’ll take it.

As I mentioned, I got a few other items, that I’m sure will be shared in the near future, and that I have already worn, just since Sunday.

Happy thrifting, and make sure to make it to the sale days in your area for extra special deals!

Army Green ‘Surplus’ Coat, Orange Tee, Under $10!!!

Army Green 'Surplus' Coat, Orange Tee, Under $10!!!

I love coats like this and it is so the Nashville style (something I try to encompass daily), so when I found this for just $5.99 about a month ago at my local Goodwill I was beyond excited.

This is me wearing it on a whole ‘nother shopping trip at Goodwill the other day. Wearing Goodwill while shopping at Goodwill, wonderful. And looking good while doing it. How I’m not their spokesperson yet I’ll never know.

I wish I could post more than one picture, but I still haven’t figured out how to do that from my phone yet, and my computer is still having issues lying to me about storage space available on him. It’s a he. Until he can get his behavior issues figured out, I will settle for posting one picture at a time, instead of nothing at all!

Lucky me, I can kill three birds with one stone (or picture) here because the shirt underneath this jacket in the picture AND the jeans are also Goodwill. An all Goodwill outfit, I love when this happens. The bright orange plain good fitting tee is from Forever 21 for $2.24. Paired with a statement necklace from Burlington, that I have gotten well over the $10.99 worth that I paid for it, and my NY&Co jeggings that I got at Goodwill last year for 7.49, and you have a great Nashville church outfit. At least for my church. This is what I wore on Sunday. Looking like you rolled out of bed is high fashion in Nashville, but people still spend $300 to look like that. Unless you’re me. I get set back a mere $20 or so. It’s good to be me, I agree.

Hope you enjoyed the outfit as much as I did wearing it!

Happy thrifting, I’ll be back soon!!

Who’s Ready for Fall??? Go get your boots on!

IMG_4598 IMG_4617 IMG_4591 IMG_4593 IMG_4615 IMG_4588

My satisfied face.  Mmmhmmmm.  I found a good one.

Sweater- Forever XXI, $5.99

Boots- Blowfish, $5.99

Flats- daniblack, $2.99, half off color of the week

Wallet- $2.99, no brand name

Me. I am.  Always.  All year.  I love the colors.  The crisp cool air.  The scarves.  The boots.  The accessories!!!  The feel of things ending to make way for new beginnings.

All of the above.

But who is ready clothing wise?

I am just a little bit closer thanks to my trip yesterday to Goodwill.

The sweater is the perfect neutral palette for me to spice up with scarves and hats and such, which I have plenty of.  I also love the sleeve style where it is loose under the armpit area.  Who doesn’t like a little extra breathing room right there? (Does anyone know what the correct term for this style is?  I’d love to know)

The boots are great because they slip easily on and off, are comfortable, and not too high of a heel.  I also have one other or blowfish shoes, they are open toed flats, that I got for about $20 at DSW a couple years ago, and I get compliments on them almost every time I wear them.  So I felt good about another blowfish purchase.

The ‘wallet’, or credit card holder, has a see through pocket for my ID on the other side, as well as a zipper pocket for change/cash.  The perfect little size.  And I saw my friend use one just like it the other night, and thought that I would like to look for one, and there it was.  Good timing as always Goodwill.

I love my new Fall Essentials.  And can’t wait for it to be just cool enough to use them.  It’s still holding strong at 90+ here in TN at the moment.

My trip to San Francisco in less than two weeks may just be the perfect time.

And…an item I passed on 😦  The right shoe was just too loose, as they were technically a size too big.  Technicalities.  Foot size shmize.

Forever XXI Ballet flats, $4.99

Heartbreaking, huh?

And, in a not so Fall manner…I may have put a cheap box of light blonde Revlon on my hair last night…

IMG_4603

…NOT so fally…but I’m glad it turned out alright.  Not bright orange or green.  These are plusses.

I’d love to go dark for the fall/winter, as they recommend, but anytime I do, it turns a reddish brown, not just straight brown.  Someday I’ll figure it out.  For now, blonde will do.

And lastly, thanks Martyna over at spoolish.com for reminding me to look for Fall essentials, or else I may just have never found these wonderful items:)

happy Fall thrifting to all of you,

-Jaime

Are you as excited to wear scarves again as I am?

Not that I completely stopped over the summer months…

“I’ll think I’ll take ’em”

All Goodwill.

Shirt- Half off for $2.13 by Forever 21, last Spring of 2012 at the Charlotte Pike Goodwill in Nashville.

Shorts- $4.29 by Mossimo from Target, last Summer or 2012 at the Charlotte Pike Goodwill in Nashville.

I had a little fun with the exposure and contrast settings on this post.  Clearly.

It’s like instagram on your computer.  Pretty cool.

I fleetingly thought of doing a wordless post, as these pictures are self explanatory, all Goodwill.  And then I stopped.

No words is not in my vocabulary.  No pictures…maybe, but also, not really.

SO!

Here we go.

These shorts got me a little reprimand and friendly reminder of the dress code at the preschool.  CAN’T be shorter than arms length.  Ok. These may be a LITTLE shorter than that… :/.  Oops.

Heard and received and will not do it again.  Wouldn’t want to distract the 3 year olds with my bare legs.

I think we all know what I love so much about the shirt.  The excessive amount of flowers covering every bare inch.  I’m not a huge proponent of wearing black.  Ever.  But cover it in whimsical flowers and I’ll make an exception and allow it on my body.

I would have killed (and by kill I mean kill with kindness) to have some yellow skinny jeans to pair with this top.  I don’t love adding distressing in addition to color on the bottom with such a busy shirt on top.  But beggars Goodwillers can’t always be choosers.  But most of the time, we can.

The shorts do just fine.  More than fine.

I also decided to not really add any jewelry to this outfit at the time either, probably could have done simple earrings, but I decided to just go without this time.  Let the shirt speak if you will.  Let it “Spirk” 🙂

Til next time!

Vintage Plaid Top

Vintage Plaid Top

Love this vintage plaid sleeveless blouse by White Stag. This style is totally back in now, and I got it for a steal at $0.99 at Goodwill. Looks even better paired with this Forever 21 jean trouser skirt for $4.29. Ready for summer for sure in this little number. Bring on the heat.

Keeps me looking good…

 075 071

I found this awesome burnt yellow tuxedo shirt from Forever 21 for $3.99 this past Saturday at my local Goodwill.  My friend had friend’s in town and they came to my side of town because she likes my Goodwill better, and I met them there and walked away with this.

Couldn’t be happier.

I paired it with a necklace from Goodwill from years back:

078 079

I love this necklace as well.  I think it was around $2.99, and looks pretty vintage to me.  It is a long necklace and can be worn as I have it, or just hung around the neck once.

On second thought, a pop of color may have been nice to have in my necklace instead of staying with the same color palate, but overall I still think it is a very nice look.  You can wear with this shirt with heels to dress it up, or boots for a casual Sunday evening drink with a friend.

Number two.

The week before I left for my not so mini week long spontaneous vacation to Nashville I found this great scarf and sweater combination (found separately, combined by yours truly):

083 082 087

The sweater is Mossimo, and new from Target and bought by Goodwill for $4.99.

The scarf is Calvin Klein and was the standard scarf price of $3.00.  I love all the colors in this scarf and how they work together so well.  All my scarves are pretty ‘heavy’ cotton and a lot of material, so it is nice to have a lighter feeling one that is more for looks.

For my last look of this post, I give you what I will call my “day in the studio” outfit.  I wore this to go record my newest song (up on www.reverbnation.com/jaimenelson) called “Before You”

031

028 030

027

A nice light cotton tank top from the Gap for $3.99,

paired with a Forever 21 (purchased at the store) coral cardigan.

That’s how hot I look with headphones on when taking the picture myself from a bad angle.  You’re welcome.

I was accused of looking like a J.Crew model/mom later that evening when sitting at a bar next to a very alternative young man.  Mostly because I was wearing a cardigan.

I’ve been called worse.

I may have been away from Nashville too long.

So those are all my finds, and now you see how Goodwill keeps me looking good!!

I am still amazed at the stuff I find there and for how cheap I get it.  All the time.

Happy thrifting!

Peace,

Jaime
