For $55 small ones I got…

At the retail store:

A handmade bureau/tv armoire, $15.99.

This looks handmade and kind of rough.  It needs a paint job for sure.  Which I am happy to do.  Eventually.  I have always loved refinishing dressers and furniture, so this will be a fun project for me, and a very cheap armoire for my clothes.

Which I have in abundance because of a beyond addiction to all things Goodwill.

Great Pajama capris by Secret from the mart of Wals…about 0.60 by weight

IMG_3460

This beautiful quilt.  by Target, $3.99 by weight.

Technically, it was over the 5 lb mark, so when something gets that heavy, they will just give you a reasonable price.

Reasonable?  I think, yes.

This quilt is not perfect, its got a few small spots and a few small tears, but nothing I wouldn’t do sooner or later myself, and nothing a guest staying over would reject a night’s sleep for:)  Oh the wonderful host am I.  Goodwill makes it easy to have extra stuff on hand for the unexpected guest.  However, I quickly decided this would not be a guest blanket, but my personal bed covering for at least a little bit:)

I also got, but do not have pictured,

a lovely new square scarf for $1.99

a pair of khaki capris for a friend for 0.60

a pair of white wide leg pants and a matching blue and white tee for $1 each for a friend,

and a heather blue pocket cardigan from Old Navy for another friend.

Didja get all that?

And it only set me back $55.

Goodwill never ceases to amaze me.

I have used a few of these items already, and here they are in action:

The branch patterned loose tee from Target was the perfect wear for my sips n’ strokes class with a few girlfriends the very next night.  I do know how to put my clothes to use RIGHT away, that’s for sure.

She’s sipping.  I’m stroking.  We are so getting this.

Whatcha think?  It’s called Walk in the Rain, Part II.

Or maybe I’ll rename mine walk in the asteroids, I don’t know…

I’ll be honest, I did strip to just my lovely under tank top for the whole painting part.I know me.  I spill.  At least I arrived and left in style with this on and my new purse on my shoulder.

As I said, I am already using my new purse.  It didn’t take me long to make the switchover.  You ladies know what that means.  It can be an emotional event.

And I wore the burgundy covered loveliness tank top for happy hour drinking on Saturday, and afterwards to walk my dog.

Vintage wonderfulness and Plaid

$16.73 for all of the following finds…

IMG_1851

I got this awesome flowery, short sleeve vintage top by Frejani with puffed sleeves, shoulder pads, and a thick black elastic band around the waist and the outer half of the sleeves.  So cute.  I’m not sure what decade this hails from, but I love it.  Here is a close up of the tag and the pattern:

I also got this great eye glasses pin, $3, I am in love with it, it even has the little fake string to hold eye glasses around your neck!

IMG_1861

I should have taken a picture of me wearing it to show the full size, but it is no more than 2″ across.  Not too large.  And now my bosom will be able to see oh so well:)  20/20 I hope.

H&M plaid shirt, $4.99:

I thought you might want a few different angles.  Dizzy yet? 🙂

I love the blue color, it really makes my eyes POP.  And you can’t beat the price, as always.

My last purchase was a great faux leather brown purse, with a gold placard on the outside pocket:

IMG_1857

And me modeling it very well.  I think I missed my calling as a purse model…

I only got this purse to get myself up to a $20 total.  This is because I have a 25% off discount off of one purchase over $20 because it is my birthday month (yay!).  Now because I find such great deals, I don’t go over $20 a lot in one purchase, so since I was already buying everything else for $15, I knew that (being the math prodigy I am) 25% off of 20 was the same as $15.  So whatever else I picked out I would basically be getting for free (if it was around $5).  This purse was $6, so it seemed as good as any, if not better!

Lastly, I forgot to take a picture, but I got a large hard cover book about photography for $3.  It is old enough that it doesn’t even have tips for digital cameras in it, but I still thought I could garner some basic photography information from it.

So the grand total for all of the above items….was, drumroll……

$16.73!!! (after 25% birthday discount).

Not bad for two shirts (one authentic vintage), an awesome pin, a great bag, and a photography book.

If last week was half off week (everything I bought was the half off color of the week and therefore super super cheap), this week was the EXACT opposite.  Everything I got had a blue tag on it, which is the color of all the NEW stuff arriving at that Goodwill this week.  Meaning, it has two more weeks after this one before it is the half off color of the week.  Too long to wait for such cool stuff.  Too long.

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy thrifting!  Please go out and support shopping second hand, your fashion addictions, and all the good causes that Goodwill and thrift stores in general support in so many ways.

Love, Jaime
