Lotsa stuff this week and last…Coca-Cola Lady, Anthropologie, J. Crew, Home Decor and more and a Giveaway!!

Where to start.  Me and Goodwill have been busy the last week and a half.  I guess I will just start with the homegoods, and then move on to the good stuff.  The clothing.

Her:

Vintage coca-cola tray, 1.99

Who doesn’t want this lady sitting on their coffee table, drink in hand, ready to hang out.

IMG_4834

dresser for a troll.  Or jewelry, $4.99

No, I don’t have a troll moving in.  It will be interesting to see what a mini dresser will look like sitting on an exact same version of a larger dresser.  ‘Twill be nteresting.

brooms for witches.  Or to sit in my hallway or hang in my kitchen and be decorative, 1.99 for a set of 3.

Apparently I have a fairy tale theme going on so far.  Trolls and witches galore.

Ceramic flower vase, 4.99

This is just pretty.  that’s all I have to say about that.

Light brown pillar candle holder, 4.99

toy chest/future DIY project/Window seat, 5.99

A little paint, maybe some stencils, and some pillows thrown on top, and this will be sitting in front of my front window.  Hopefully to be my dog’s new resting place, instead of the couch that me and my friends hang out on.

Last, but certainly not least,

large brown box, 19.99

Kidding!

Manhattan desk, new in box from target.com, 19.99

List price online, 129.99

I like 19.99.

Sometimes Goodwill scares me.  It’s like someone (God…?) puts exactly what I am looking for and what I need there when I come in.  It’s weird.

I was looking for a desk today, and knew I probably couldn’t fit an already put together one in my Civic, but I went in hoping anyway.  Is that what faith is?? 🙂  And lo and behold, here is one all boxed up and ready to be taken away in my Civic.

Scary.

I see productivity in my future.  Can’t wait.  Many good things will go down at this desk.

And now, on to the good stuff.

Cloooothing.

Chelsea & Violet shirt, sold at Anthropologie, half off for 2.25!

I love the drapey style of this shirt.  It’s a size small, so I bought it with the intent of maybe reselling it beacause it is a great brand.  But after getting home, I couldn’t help trying it on, and voila!  It fits.  It’s not going anywhere now.  Except out into the world on MY back.

Warm weather wear was not forgotten…Fall IS my favorite season…

J. Crew light weight off-white sweater, 3 buttons on each shoulder, 5.99

Annalee + Hope chunky burnt yellow sweater, 5.99

I’m not sure who annalee and hope are, but I think I would like them and want them to be my friend.  This sweater is great.

My favorite part of it, other than the burnt yellow amazingness (that is pretty much my favorite clothing color of the moment) and the fact that it apparently likes to say the plege of allegiance, is the shorter in front than the back style.  It makes what could be a shapeless unstyled chunky sweater somewhat stylish and fun.  And still warm.  Stylish and warm.  Golden!

Brown Old Navy wrap sweater/cardigan, 5.99

I love the fitted ribbed sleeves and the way you can leave it open or wrap yourself up in it nice and warm and cozy.  ‘Twill come in handy.  ‘Twill is definitely one of my new favorite words.  Using it ALL the time.  ‘Twill.

Definitely paid full price (at Goodwill) for fabulous for all these sweaters, but at a full price of 5.99 it’s still pretty darn randy.

GIVEAWAY PART!!!!-

Lastly, I had some luck last Wednesday on .99 day in my area.  Meaning the half-off color of the week is sold for just .99!  Some pretty good stuff falls through the cracks and makes it to these racks somehow.

For example….

the items below:

IMG_4767 IMG_4768IMG_4766 IMG_4765  IMG_4763 IMG_4762 IMG_4761IMG_4764

Old Navy striped top, ruffle tuxedo detailing

– Xhilaration polka dot top puffed sleeve tee

– Forever XXI plaid babydoll tank shirt/dress

-Xhilaration spaghetti strap flower dress, cupped bra top

As I said, pretty good week for Goodwill and me.

One of these items is an XS.

The polka dot Xhilaration top to be particular.  I am not an XS.  Small at best.

But it was .99 for a whole lot of cuteness and I couldn’t say no.

SO,

I will be doing a giveaway.

If you would like this shirt and will fit in it, or just want to have it to stare at, whatever floats your boat, simply comment by next Friday,October 4!  l will count the number of comments and pick that number out of a hat, and that number commenter is the lucky winner of this great t-shirt!

Happy thrifting and living!  Have you been having as much luck lately as I have???  I hope so!

Crazy dress for a crazy girl- Happy Memorial Day

Xhilaration at Target, $6.99 from Goodwill in CT.

Love this crazy dress.  This is the first time I have gotten to wear it summer style without leggings or a cardigan etc over/under it.  I got it last fall and the first time I wore it I added blue tights, black boots and a black cardigan as it was in December in CT.

I like it both ways…but am partial to the kind I get to wear while sitting on a patio eating BBQ in the sun.

I wore this fun dress to get some BBQ with my good girl friend Rion (who has the coolest spelled name ever!) at Edley’s BBQ in Nashville on today, Memorial Day.  I have been wanting to try this place for awhile, and you can imagine my joy when I found out a new location just opened up on my side of town.  Done.

I had a brisket sandwich with bean salad and macaroni on the side.  I left feeling uncomfortably full…but worth it because it was all delicious.

Thank goodness for the stretch covered waist on this frock.  I knew that would come in handy.

Also once again sporting my Wal-Mart necklace.  I wonder how long it will take me to get sick of this one.  Pretty excited about it.

On a more serious note, I would like to take a moment to thank all of our past, current and future men and women who have served and fight for our freedom.  I take it for granted a lot, but am very thankful to be able to worship who I want to worship (God), do what I want to do, and shop where I want to shop (Goodwill).

Nothing is too trivial to be thankful for on this day, because someone gave up their live so you could do something as simple as eat cereal in your house…or apartment…or condominium- wherever you choose to dwell- it is your freedom to choose!  Ok, I think you get my point.  I am thankful.  As I never had the guts to serve myself, I’m glad someone else has and does and will.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  Thanks for stopping by.

“Freedom is never free.”

Wine, dresses, and marathons

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, or just know me as a person, you should know I. love. wine.  I love learning about it, drinking it, selling it, making things with wine products, you name it.  I don’t make it yet, maybe someone out there can help me get started with that.  I don’t own a wine rack however, because I don’t like the run of the mill ones I usually find, including at Goodwill.  That is until a couple weeks ago in Harrisburg, PA.  I tagged along when my sister went to run a marathon there.  Oh yeah, and she totally won it:)  Go Katie (you can see her at www.msfitrunner.com, she’s got a few things to say about running.  If you could run 26.2 miles as fast as she could, you would too!).

Luckily, my mom and my niece have the same obsession love  for Goodwill as I, and so Alexandra the three of us didn’t have trouble convincing my sister to stop there the night before she was going to run 26.2 miles (you can’t forget about that .2 I have heard) to see what treasures we could find.  Luckily its her 6th one, so she has become a little bit more lax in her night before preparations.  Andin reality we probably have to give the most credit to her 6 year old daughter’s pleading to stop.  We just can’t get away with the threat of throwing a tantrum quite like she can:)

I was not disappointed.

The wine rack to end all wine racks for $3.99.  Not only is it not plain with the pretty pink beading down each side, it stands one bottle on top of the other.  So many wine racks I see just spread them out, which doesn’t really save you any space.  Lastly, it naturally points the bottle down so that the cork stays moist with wine and doesn’t dry out and break.  Nobody likes cork in their wine.  That I know of.  I’m sure there’s someone out there that enjoys that sort of thing.

It is now proudly holding its first bottle of wine (under my owndership at least).  This wine was what I chose for my Thanksgiving day drinking.  A bottle of Pinot Noir.  A $35 bottle the salesperson told me that they were selling for $15.99.  “How so?” I asked.  “We buy the grapes from the expensive wine place and then make the wine ourselves and sell it under a different name for cheap.”  “Oh”.  I’ll bite.  Or drink I should say.  And I did.

I have to admit, I have so many finds it would take me quite a bit of time to include them all, and I am very excited about all of them.  But here a just a couple more that were easiest to photograph to share with you:)

Forever 21 bohemian Black and White printed top.  Loosefitting style.  Half off for $2.00.

Xhilaration dress, $5.99.  I have worn this once to work at school.  I paired it with some brown tights, and brown knee high boots, that I also got at Goodwill the same day I got this dress, that were originally from Target, for $15, and a tan sweater cardigan.  The Math specialist teacher absolutley loved my outfit and she is now telling everyone about Goodwill :o)  Gotta love being a walking witness!

And speaking of easy to photograph, this picture was already on my camera, so how could I not include it??  It also happens to be taken on the way to Harrisburg where I found the amazing wine rack.  Oh how I love when things come full cirlce:)  I’ll apologize ahead of time about the quality.

You’re probably trying to figure out what is from Goodwill..no, not our faces:)  Clearly this picture isn’t meant to showcase the item, but it’s the lovely green down vest I am wearing!  I purchased this Gap down vest for $9.99 a couple weeks earlier, and it has served me well in my recent move to cooler temperatures and more family in CT.  The little lady is my Goodwill loving niece Alexandra.  She got a good math study tool at Goodwill that weekend.  She wasn’t a huge fan until I showed her how to use it and then it provided a good distraction on the 5 hour trip home.

I’ll end with some pretty pictures of Harrisburg….a beautiful, quaint city…

My sister there with the pink socks.  Coincidence that she happens to be covering over every number on her bib except the number one?  Maybe.

Obsessed with this bridge.  I happened to be volunteering directing the runners right in front of this bridge, so I got a few goood pictures of it.

Happy thrifting/Goodwilling!  Please share your finds and stories with me!  I’d love to hear them.  And I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving full of love and warmth:)

Goodwill Goes to Preschool

Ms. Jaime.  Teacher extraordinairre.

(It’s my blog- I can say whatever I want:)

Dress:  I can’t remember how much:)  It was about 6 months ago that I found this one, so its foggy.  But I dont think it was more than 4.99.  It is the brand xhilaration from Target.  And I remember seeing it at the store for around 19.99.  That’s a discount of 75% my friends.

And now you know, THIS is what teachers do during naptime- take pictures.

And write notes saying how lovely the little kiddlings were….slash ‘rowdy’.  That is a new word Ms. Helen and I came up with to describe when the children are hitting and pushing and not being the lovely little beings they should be.  We thought ‘aggressive’ was a little too negative, so we just say rowdy.

“So and so was very rowdy today, Ms. Smith.”  Read: So and so can’t seem to stop pushing his friends and we get really frustrated with him!!:)  Just kidding… we are always just hugs and kisses all the time!!!! 😉  K, maybe that’s a little white lie.

I love this dress though.  You can’t see it, but its got a high waist, and then kind of A lines out.  Very fun, and kind of made me feel like a preschooler with the tights and what not.  Speaking of- have you ever noticed kids can pull off so much fashion wise.  Just once, I want to go out of the house wearing some of the things they do and just see how it works out for me…

Back to the outfit- the shoes, not from Goodwill, but I have to mention them.  Another Old Navy Christmas deal, $13.  My friend’s friend from Charleston calls them ‘Orphan shoes’ and says that if you wear them, your parents must be dead.  My parents are both still alive (thank goodness:), but I still love these shoes, so I wear them anyway and hope I have not done them any undue harm.  I’ll call them tonight just to make sure…

I’ll leave you with this close-up of the dress pattern:

P.S.  I would like to include in each post from now on a count of how many compliments I get on my turquoise emille m. purse I recently got at Goodwill for 14.99.  There have been two since the LAST two that I mentioned.  Although one of the compliments was from a grocery store clerk who was wearing a turquoise sweatshirt, so I’m thinking she may have been biased.  HOWEVER, this is balanced out, as the other compliment (and may I say this one used the word FIERCE, thank you very much) was from a gay man.  Doesn’t get much more official than that.

P.P.S. The fact that I started using a new purse may put a halt on these compliments, just a hunch.  But when you get a brand new island bloom Vera Bradley hipster for $25, you don’t let it sit in your room.  Sorry emille.
